OddlyAwkward makes cute and silly art that captures the magic of soaring through clouds of your memories.I aim to spark feelings of nostalgia and wonder, inviting you to revisit those happy moments and embrace the joy and imagination that life has to offer! I've been attending conventions since 2013, and it has always been a dream of mine to sell my artwork in the Artist Alley. In January 2023, I had the opportunity to attend my first Artist Alley at Anime Los Angeles 18! I've attended many events since then, including Anime Los Angeles, K-Play! Fest LA and OC, WonderCon, and Kawaii Kon. I also regularly participate in smaller, fan-run cupsleeve events. Since I’m based in LA, I usually sell at events around SoCal. I hope to branch out and meet even more wonderful people in the future!!! |
Hello! I'm Mel (they/them), the artist and designer behind OddlyAwkward!My username has a simple story. Around 2007, during my "R@nD0m" phase, I decided my favorite word was “awkward” as social media like Facebook and MySpace gained popularity. I accidentally came up with "oddlyawkward" while trying to find a cool name, and it has stuck ever since! I've been drawing all my life, but I only started digital art after receiving my first drawing tablet in 2018. My journey began with making Twitch emotes for a friend, then for myself, and eventually, I started taking commissions for other streamers as well! My first introduction to the fandom space was through MapleStory, and I will always cherish the memories and creativity that came with it. The MapleStory music videos were a significant inspiration for both my art style and my taste in music. Fun fact about me: I can recite the entire script of Peter Pan (1953) AND of Turning Red! |
